Three Stacked Airfoils

My first experiment with airfoils. Airfoils are an architectural element that are used in all kinds of ways but most commonly as a louver on a building to guard from sunlight. I think these forms are just perfect for Kinetic Sculpture.

Four Large Airfoils

The first well realized piece using airfoils. This sculpture has a natural level of balance in it's design and moves in the wind beautifully. I've made pieces that are far more complex with many more moving elements, but this piece has a calm about it that I truly enjoy. This first version has found a lovely home at the New Orleans lakefront.

Four Small Airfoils

Just like it's larger brethren, Four Small Airfoils take the larger's design and adapts it to an architectural element that half the size of the one used in Four Large Airfoils. This first version of the piece has found a lovely home looking out over the Pacific in Orange County CA.
